Offer your own icon set
Before selling: check demand, your offer and revenue
A technically sound icon set can be a starting point. Whether anyone needs it and will pay is a separate question. A small use-case test, an accurate package description and a transparent calculation let you assess those decisions separately.
One task. Three relevant icons.
Choose a specific group and application: for example, people organising appointments, notes and messages in a digital home-office planner. Show a calendar, document and email icon in a small planner view. The free examples support experimentation; they do not establish demand for your future offer.
View the three symbols at their actual display size. Check whether they make sense without filenames. Then ask which additional symbols are missing.
Ask about use, not just approval.
Invite relevant volunteers to give feedback, such as existing contacts or members of a community that permits these tests. These questions help identify a specific problem:
- What task would you use these icons for?
- Which symbol is unclear or missing?
- Which formats and sizes do you need; would you buy a complete set?
Record answers and changes. Praise, clicks and purchase intentions are not sales. If nobody identifies a clear use, revise the task or selection before making more files.
Describe what buyers actually receive.
State the count and symbols, SVG and any PNG formats, export sizes, style, version and permissions. A preview should show only included files. Explain the download process and how buyers can contact you about file defects.
Describe reused examples and your own changes accurately. Do not promise exclusive rights to freely distributed files. An intended sales version is ready only when the promised components actually exist.
Check the package after extracting it.
Extract your finished ZIP into an empty folder. Open the files and compare the contents, preview and description. Check extensions, readability, missing symbols and the included licence. The free set contains twelve SVGs, README.txt and LICENSE.txt; it has no PNG variants. The separately linked LICENSE-icons.txt contains the same licence text.
Calculate with your own assumptions.
Enter an imagined price, a percentage fee, a fixed deduction per sale and a number of sales below. The example values are freely chosen calculation assumptions, not a price recommendation or a provider's current fees. Check fees against your actual agreement before selling.
Your hypothetical revenue
Revenue after the entered sales deductions
Every value is an assumption. EUR 10, 10%, EUR 0.30 and 20 sales produce a calculated EUR 174.
Hypothetical, before taxes, your time, other costs and refunds. No evidence of profit or demand.
Entering zero does not establish that selling is free of fees. Check the actual fees for your selling route.
The calculation stays in your browser. Inputs are neither saved nor transmitted.
Calculation
(Price × (1 − fee / 100) − fixed deduction) × salesThe result includes only these sales deductions. It excludes taxes, your time, other costs and refunds. A positive amount establishes neither profit nor buyers. Record observed use and actual sales separately.
